Confession: The Sacrament of Freedom

“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19)

“On the Lord’s Day gather together, break bread, and give thanks [in Greek, Eucaristesate], first confessing your sins so that your sacrifice may be pure” (Didache, 48 A.D.)

Spring of 2017, Fr. Peter Kavanaugh gave a series of powerpoint talks called, “Confession: The Sacrament of Freedom.” In these meetings we explored what the bible and traditional Christianity have had to say about confession and how a life grounded in this sacrament awakes a deeper relationship with our Lord and God.
